YWAM International
Jim and Pam pioneered the work of YWAM in Brazil just a year after their marriage in 1974. The early days were slow and difficult, but their efforts in that country eventually resulted in substantial growth.
They currently work with a staff of over fifteen hundred. They maintain many training courses, ranging from teacher training to linguistics. Their work includes orphanages, a house for AIDS babies, help for street children, the preservation of tribal languages and cultures, and much work with the church. Evangelism happens at all levels and using widely varied methods.
In more recent years the Brazilians have gone out to every continent of the world, doing similar work. They have helped the war refugees in Angola , set up education programs in Guine Bissau, and started churches in Albania and India , as well as many other projects.
As a prayer request, we would ask that you pray for Pam’s health, for our safety in the midst of all of the crime in Brazil, and for our support. The dollar has fallen 33% against the Brazilian currency and this makes for a sizeable pinch on our income.
